Summer Evening

Summer Evening

Claiming dusk as its own, the ocean absorbs the horizon. Rose wavelets curl upon sand expanding to glassy thinness, gathering itself again.

Walking in silence through the skim of froth and brine, my feet leave prints to fill with fleeting pools.

Treasure glints in the last cast of light. I scoop the cobalt prize, a Noxema glass fragment, greatly sought above coke bottle greens and beer browns. Smoothed by churning tides, I pocket the salt tamed jewel.
