“Night Owl” Colored Pencil

“Night Owl” is a 5×7 entry for “Gems of the Shuswap” at the Salmon Arm Art Gallery beginning on August 4th. Painting so small has been an interesting challenge. It has inspired a whole new direction of creativity using various mediums.

I think it’s valuable in any creative endeavor, writing, painting, music etc to challenge yourself. The miracle is, as soon as you shift gears, new ideas tumble out.

A challenge opens possibilities not previously considered. This is why trying a new approach is valuable. Whether it’s writing exercises, learning new painting mediums, playing music with others, you shake things up, ignite your imagination.

Creativity is an enlivening process that not only contributes to your own growth, but in reading, viewing or listening to the finished piece, others can share in that energy.
